Brainstorming

We were told it was to target an older teenage audience of 15 and above and also creative & aspiring adults. We thought about possible settings in which we could set it and realized our own British school would fit the description. Thinking about the plotline of the story we did not want it to be a typical slasher horror but a creepier, suspenseful film trailer. This would also fit the school atmosphere as it’s not an obvious place for a horror film. We began discussing previous newspaper articles about school teacher and pupil relationships and how this could be manipulated into our film trailer. We though the idea of stalking would be a serious concept easily portrayed through this student, teacher relationship. We looked at some trailers which had similar concepts to our own and a newspaper article.

This article is a very exaggerated version of what our trailer is based on however it is still highly relevant. Our teacher will develop and unhealthy obsession with a new student and veiw his relationship a lot deeper than we could ever have imagined. This article gives a rough insight into how our 'teachers' mind works. This creates a very disturbing atmosphere which links into our suspenseful trailer. We do not need so much killing or blood & gore because this will scare the audience enough without the need for bloodshed.

Trailers that inspired us:

To grasp the concept of how our trailers would eventually look, we wanted to take a look at the professional ones. To inspire us, we watched trailers which had similar concepts to ours to see how they portrayed their plotline, what conventions they used and sound effects.

Obsessed:

Obsessed, is a film about a womans misconception of her relationship with her boss. She seems to take it to extremes and create a different story in her head. This is set in an office environment which would be different to ours as ours will be set in a school, more suited to our target audience. She becomes obsessed with this man and turns up unexpectedly and acts out of the norm which worries her boss immensley till it reaches a climax point.

Notes on a scandal:

This trailer is about a relationship between a student and a teacher which ends terribly wrong. We especially found this trailer useful as we wanted to imitate the captions it uses in between each clip to tell the stroyline. They create a very suspenseful atmosphere throughout this trailer.
